FAQ

I’m having trouble getting through on the phone, what is the best way to reach Blue Line Defense?

Part of what makes our training good is the experience of our staff, which means that our staff is often out working their primary jobs (Law Enforcement, Military & Federal Security) or or out conducting training. The best way to reach us is by email at info@bluelinedefense.com. If you call, be sure to leave a message that explains what you are looking for and how we can reach you.

How do I schedule a permit to carry class?

To register for a permit to carry class, you need to register for a class here: http://www.bluelinedefense.com/permit-to-carry/.

I bought a deal voucher for a class from Amazon, Groupon, Living Social, etc, but when I try to register for a class, it tells me that my voucher is invalid or has been already used, why?

This is most common with two-person Groupons that have a voucher code that is in the following format AAAAAAAA-BBBBBBBB. It is actually two codes, and each attendee needs to be registered individually using half of the code.

Otherwise, be sure you are using the correct redemption code or voucher number. If your voucher has multiple codes on it, try a different one to see if it works. If you still can’t get it to work, email us at info@bluelinedefense.com.

Are there any range fees for your classes?

It depends on the location and if you are using a deal voucher purchased from a third party merchant (Groupon, Living Social, Crowd Cut, Sweet Jack, Amazon, etc). If you used a deal voucher, then it will be mentioned in the fine print of the voucher, otherwise there is no range fee in Prior Lake. If you attend a class in Robbinsdale or Forest Lake, then there is a $15 per person range fee.

Do I need any experience to take a permit to carry class?

Some familiarity always helps, but no, you do not need any specific experience. You will however need to have realistic expectations about what you will learn in a one day class. A permit to carry class is not really designed to teach you how to shoot a gun effectively, but rather give you a good foundation of knowledge to make good decisions about defensive firearms use and understand the basics of safe use of a handgun. We always encourage our students to seek further training and instruction such as our Defensive Handgun 1 and Defensive Handgun 2 to further their knowledge and experience.

Do I need my own gun to take a permit to carry class?

If you have your own gun, we encourage you to bring and use your own. If you do not have your own gun, then you should select OPTION 2 when you register for a Permit to Carry class, which will include the use of a firearm and ammunition.

I’m interested in continuing my training, what are the defensive handgun classes like?

The Defensive Handgun classes are the complement to a Permit to Carry course. Where the permit to carry class is mostly in the classroom, and deals predominantly with the basic knowledge needed to responsibly and legally use a defensive firearm, the Defensive Handgun classes are all on the range and deal with building the basic skills of real, practical, defensive pistol use. The skills involved in successfully shooting a gun in dynamic circumstances are very different from standing still at the range and putting holes in a paper target. Defensive Handgun 1 and Defensive Handgun 2 will help you develop the skills needed to succeed in a defensive situation.
